Serotonin requires a “combination of 3” to be produced
Protein + Carbohydrate + Fresh (fruit or vegetable)

 

Proteins are made up of several strings of amino acids. Tryptophan is one of the essential amino acids. It is weaker compared to the others so, in order for it to make it to the brain, the other amino acids must be “sent” to other equally important tasks in the body, leaving it alone.  

 

The carbohydrate plays the role of the element that will draw the other amino acids into other functions of the body

 

After this amino acid passes into the brain, certain vitamins (and other micronutrients-non-caloric elements) are required to convert this precursor form into the hormone of joy, Serotonin

Serotonin lasts in the body for 6 hours after it is produced. That’s why we need a triad of the three main meals of the day
